Hands-On Treatment & Education
With a focus on hands-on treatments and education, we will guide you to feel your best,
providing exercises that give you back the power to feel better. We believe one-on-one care results in a more individualized plan, more effective treatment and faster recovery. Physiotherapy is more than just machines and we believe an effective treatment consists of manual therapy, exercises (both in clinic and at home) and education.
An initial assessment relies on a collaborative discussion to help determine YOUR primary complaints and goals. A physiotherapist may assess gait, posture, strength, range of motion and muscle tone in order to determine which structures are involved. From there, an individualized plan will be created which may included specialized services such as Shockwave or Acupuncture. (At no additional cost to you)
Shockwave
At Springside Physio, we offer Shockwave Therapy, the gold standard in the treatment of plantar fasciatis and chronic tendonopathies. Highly effective non-invasive treatment that generates high-energy sound waves into the injured tissue. This energy vibrates the tissue cells which stimulates the body’s natural healing response. Shockwave enhances blood circulation which promotes tissue regeneration. It also temporarily reduces sensation of local nerve endings which helps to relieve pain and increase tolerance to exercise, thus helping the tissue to grow back stronger.
Reduces PAIN, improves tolerance to ACTIVITY and accelerates HEALING
Acupuncture and Dry Needling
Functional dry needling (FDN) is a treatment technique used in the management of musculoskeletal pain. “Dry needling” is a generic term for the insertion and manipulation of an acupuncture needle into areas of soft tissue that are causing pain. These areas, referred to as “trigger points”, are highly sensitive muscle bands that are maladaptively shortened. When the needle is inserted into these points most clients will feel a dull cramping sensation or “twitch response” which is the sensation of the muscle releasing. By releasing these areas of tension the muscles are then able to move smoothly through a full range of motion. This in turn allows joints to glide correctly, prevents adverse tension on neurological tissue, and can aid in return to exercise & activity.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a hands-on form of physiotherapy that is a great option for people recovering from injury or seeking relief from chronic pain. Manual therapists manipulate joints and apply pressure to muscles to relieve pain and promote recovery.
Soft Tissue Release
Soft tissue release (STR) is a hands-on manual therapy technique used to assess and treat the tissue of the body. The soft tissues of the body (muscle, tendon, fascia and ligaments) are prone to acute and chronic injury, which leads to swelling, adhesions and fibrosis (scarring) of the tissue. This type of injury often results in pain, loss of mobility, strength, and function. Soft tissue release targets specific areas of tension within an individual muscle with the aim of removing scar tissue and adhesion to relieve muscular tension and pain.
K-Tape
K-Tape is an elastic sports tape that can help to support muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation (which reduces inflammation), activate pain-relievers, and improve range of motion. The tape moves along with the skin and connective tissue and is comfortable to wear for all activities.
